Summary of Facts:
Jason Sornson was reportedly driving his automobile eastbound on Forest Avenue near its intersection with Cleveland Street in Beloit, Wis. At the same time and near the same location, Kelsey Evans and/or Jodeci Cooper were also allegedly driving a vehicle northbound on Cleveland Street.

Sornson asserted that Evans' and/or Cooper's vehicle struck his automobile at or near the intersection. Sornson said that he suffered personal injuries due to the collision.

Sornson filed a lawsuit against Evans, Evans' reported insurance provider, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, Cooper and Cooper's unidentified insurance provider, ABC Insurance Company. Liberty Mutual Insurance Company was also named as an involuntary plaintiff in the lawsuit for its subrogation interest through having paid workers compensation benefits on Sornson's behalf following the collision.

In his amended civil complaint filed in September 2020, the plaintiff asserted that Evans' and/or Cooper's negligence had caused the collision and his resulting injuries and damages.

The plaintiff sought damages for his personal injuries, medical expenses, physical pain and suffering and emotional distress, together with costs and disbursements and attorney fees in the matter.

According to court documents, the parties were able to reach a settlement agreement, in which Liberty Mutual Insurance, as the insurance provider for Evans, agreed to pay the sum of $8,000 in order to settle Sornson's and the involuntary plaintiff Liberty Mutual's claims asserted against it and Evans.

In an order for distribution of settlement proceeds pursuant to Wis. Stat. Section 102.29 and for dismissal signed May 24, 2021, the court approved the parties' settlement and ordered that all claims and/or causes of action in the lawsuit would be dismissed with prejudice.

Circuit Court of Wisconsin, Fifth Judicial District, Rock County.
